Explore McConnelsville & Morgan County
Whether you are here for a getaway, visiting family, or a business trip, there are many attractions, activities and events for your entertainment.
Rich in History & Beauty
Many of the county's most noted attractions are related to its history. The county was formed in 1817 and is named after General Daniel Morgan, a decorated officer in the Revolutionary War. It's location along the Muskingum River made it attractive to early pioneers and with the development of the lock and dam system. This provided a wealth of opportunities in the 1840's, especially with the rich river bottom land and abundance of timber and furs.
Today, that same beauty and abundance of resources still continue to draw visitors into the county. Steeped in history, rich in natural resources and wildlife, Morgan County is an authentic Appalachian community - one to be cherished and enjoyed.
