Summary = McConnelsville is a small town in Ohio, with a population of around 2500 people. It is the county seat of Morgan County, and it has been called "The Most Beautiful Town in America."

It was founded in 1810 and became the county seat in 1812. McConnelsville was named for its founder, John McConnell. The town is often referred to as "The Most Beautiful Town in America," which has been attributed to its location on the banks of the Muskingum River and because there are so few buildings that are not historically significant.

In 1887, McConnelsville became an incorporated village, but it remained a village until 1978 when it became a city.
