Let’s talk about not just my love, but Dan’s love for eating and cooking delicious, beautifully presented food. With each successful party or event that we host, our love grows deeper for cooking and hosting. Dan and I are by no means, professional chefs. We are home cooks that love not only a tasty meal but also a beautifully presented plate. We enjoy time in the kitchen together, and we enjoy planning and practicing our meal ideas. So when a private event is booked, a plan of action is immediately created. A menu is initially created and it entails a lot of research. I spend a lot of time scouring Pinterest for recipes, keeping in mind what is available seasonally. You’ll sometimes find that when living in rural, Appalachian Ohio, grocery items are not always available. But also, we love to use and promote local meats and produce. So we craft our recipes around seasonal, local ingredients. Krysti and Levi Morrow are a young local couple with a young family who utilizes modern farming techniques as food producers and documents their day-to-day ventures on social media. I first learned about their operation Rocky Knob Farms from their trending social media posts during their busiest season, lambing season. Not only is Krysti’s Instagram Reel entertaining, Rocky Knob’s meats are all humanely raised with the animals’ best interest in mind. Their animals receive the highest quality care before entering into their meat program - perfect for creating a meal fit to serve at Dinner Club at the Inns. We have been hosting Dinner Club for the last couple of years, and I must say, this year’s event was the most successful by far. How do I measure success? Clean plates and full guests who stay late and engage each other in conversation over drinks. And it was just that. All of my planning and test cooking came together for the event. We welcomed locals and overnight guests alike, and it seemed everyone enjoyed the Lamb Ragu featuring Rocky Knob Farms lamb as well as each other’s company. The Almond Ricotta Cake was the perfect ending to our Italian themed Dinner Club menu. Get the recipe. And what would a bed and breakfast be without breakfast? When you stay at the Inns, a complimentary homestyle breakfast is served in the Stone House dining room. Our hearty breakfasts are generous in portion and include one of two main course options - one sweet and one savory. We plan our breakfast menu daily with local farm-fresh eggs, meats, and produce. Specialty roast coffee, and hot teas also accompany each breakfast. Our passion for organizing events, hosting guests and serving up fresh, locally sourced food is part of the stellar experience that you can expect while visiting the Inns. Locals and guests find their way back to us time and time again, and the friendships we have formed over dessert and coffee make the innkeeper life, the best life.
