Hello B&B Friends!
It’s Sunday evening here in Southeastern Ohio, and we have been experiencing the end of the summer heat. Well, we hope it is the end to this nasty humidity and swampy pants season. Go ahead and laugh, but you know what I mean.
We’ve been riding this Indian Summer heatwave by squeezing in last-minute summer activities. April and I recently attended the Pints and Posies Floral Arranging Workshop given by Wildroot Flower Co. and hosted by our friends at Old Bridge Brewing Co.
We have been blessed here at the Inns. The reservations keep coming. We have been crazy busy, and we are managing - even with my bum knee. Dan has been handling breakfast like a 5-star chef. April has so graciously stepped into the role as our house manager. She spends her days helping us stay organized and keeps the rooms in tip-top shape for our guests.
In my limited capacity, I plan the menus, set the table and assist in serving the guests at breakfast. Long periods of standing and pivoting really affects my knee. It is better than where it was a month ago, and physical therapy is helping. So, time will tell. OH, and I've had time to try out new recipes like this seasonal black bean and butternut squash stew that I hope to add to our growing list of dinner options soon!
The good news on the health front is that I have received a good report on my annual thyroid cancer check up and all is cancer free. It’s wonderful news and we are thankful for this. I used to joke about having candy cancer, but now I have come to realize that this will be a bit of a worry from year to year for a while. #cancersucks
Right now there are so many worries in the world. The COVID-19 pandemic threatens to put our lives on pause once again. We are going the extra mile to ensure your health and well being when you stay here with us at The Inns at 8th and Main. We want you to have less to worry about.
Currently, our local restaurants are operating, and several offer outdoor seating. Check with us during your stay for up-to-date information. McConnelsville has many takeout options, and you can even choose dinner at the Inns to avoid going out.
We have never dropped our cleaning regime, nor will we. The girls clean the rooms like mad, and all linens are stripped right down to the shower curtains and mattress pads with each new guest. We have also added a commercial linen service to up our game. And let’s not forget, we are always disinfecting the common areas, door knobs, remotes and surfaces too.
We've also recently added an ionizing air purifier.
One new thing that we have added is when you make your reservation online, we offer two options for breakfast. Our traditional homestyle breakfast is served either in the dining room or on the patio. Or, you can choose our scrumptious Inn Room Breakfast Basket that we will deliver to your door at the appointed time.
If you are staying multiple nights with us, feel free to change it up. I know I love a lazy morning in bed, drinking coffee and enjoying a sweet treat. That is what vacations are for, to be pampered, even if it’s just for a little bit.
Also, we will have a conversation with you if there are other guests staying in other parts of the Stone House. We will let you make the choice of where and when you would like to be served. The amount of interaction you have with other guests is totally up to you.
The comfort and safety of all of our guests is of utmost priority. So rest assured that we are doing everything we can to take care of you and our staff.
