Visit Like a Local

Innkeeper, Amy

Dan and I were sitting around the other day after breakfast, passing ideas back and forth on what my next blog post should be about. He came up with the idea of sharing some of our favorite things to do here in McConnelsville and the surrounding area.

So in no particular order, here are a few of our favorite things to do and visit in Morgan County.

  1. Take in an Ohio Valley Opry Show-The third Saturday of every month, March - December, and we promise you will see some fantastic local talent and more than likely a Nashville favorite. It's something that we look forward to and attend regularly. Afterwards you can slip into the Chatterbox for a drink or a late meal.
  2. A typical Opry date night usually finds us at the Triple Nickel for dinner before the show. It's a short picturesque 20-minute drive out to Chesterhill, and I promise the food and the PIE is worth the drive.
  3. Are you a craft beer lover? We have an award-winning brewery right here in Morgan County. Our good friends at Old Bridge Brewing Company make some of the best beers. They also serve wine and other spirits if beer is not your thing. RA Italian Kitchen is also located at the brewery, and here you will find wood fired pizza and a robust Italian menu.
  4. A little retail therapy never hurt anyone, right? If you follow us on social media, then you know that there is nothing that I like better than strolling around Main Street on a Saturday shopping and visiting with my friends. Remember to visit Bell Avenue and the "Lavendar Guys" at Bellavenue Manor.
  5. Saturdays are hopping now over at Maxwell's and the River Valley Social. Pop in for dinner and outdoor games while also taking in their summer concert series.
  6. Are you looking for outdoor adventure? The Muskingum River runs between the twin cities, and in the summer, you can often find us on the river in our kayak. Recently, a handicapped kayak ramp was installed on the Malta side of the river.
  7. The Windy9 is a dream destination for motorcyclists. Over the past few weeks, we have welcomed many guests who have come on their bikes or in cars to explore the Triple Nickel and Rim of the World routes for their next trip.
  8. Wineries-No matter the direction, Dan and I will share with you some of our favorite spots that you can easily sip the weekend away at.
  9. The Wilds and the Big Muskie are closely connected, as the land where The Wilds are located was created by the Big Muskie, back in the coal days of the area. We guarantee that your visit to The Wilds will be a memorable safari experience close to home, with just a short 35-minute drive to and from the destination.

So dear friends, this list should keep you occupied for at least a few days. So have you booked your summer stay yet at The Inns at 8th and Main? We guarantee to be the hidden gem you'll never forget. So come stay with us soon.

Your Favorite Innkeepers,
Dan & Amy
