The grand opening of the Opera House was Saturday, May 28th, 1892. The theater sold out all of the 800 seats that were originally in the building.
The Opera House went on to host many traveling performance tours, local acts, as well as high school commencements. The stage was designed to accommodate large backdrops and a variety of trap doors for quick scene changes. But, the building would not house theatrical plays forever. With the excitement of motion pictures in 1913, the building was equipped to play silent films. Movies with sound came to the Opera House in 1936 where they have been playing ever since.
The Opera House keeps a rotation of current movies at reasonable rates for visitors to enjoy!
