Planning a trip to The Wilds in Ohio? Whether you're coming for a safari tour, a quiet nature escape, or one of those unforgettable moments like meeting a baby rhino, where you stay can shape the entire experience.

Just 25–30 minutes from The Wilds, The Inns at 8th & Main offers something different. Not rushed. Not crowded. Just a slower, more meaningful place to land at the end of a full day of exploring.

A Stay That Becomes Part of the Experience

Recently, we hosted a couple who traveled all the way from Oregon to visit The Wilds.

They arrived with a love for nature and conservation, and like many of our guests, they were looking for more than just a place to sleep.

Their highlights couldn’t have been more personal. His was getting to pet a baby white rhino, like a kid on Christmas morning. Hers was spending time with the giraffes.

But what stayed with us wasn’t just their experience at The Wilds. It was everything in between.

Each morning, we lingered over coffee and breakfast, sharing stories about life, travel, and the places that leave a mark on you. Evenings were spent exploring our small town and settling into a pace that feels harder and harder to find.

Extend Your Stay: Explore Ohio’s World Heritage Earthworks

While many guests come to Southeast Ohio for The Wilds, there’s another experience worth building into your trip.

The Inns at 8th & Main are uniquely positioned between several of Ohio’s newly designated UNESCO World Heritage Earthworks.

The Newark Earthworks are about an hour away, with additional Hopewell sites near Chillicothe within reach as well. Built over 2,000 years ago, these remarkable sites offer a peaceful and fascinating look into ancient history.

For travelers who enjoy meaningful experiences and places with a story, it’s a natural addition to your visit.

Many of our guests are now choosing to extend their stay, creating a multi-day trip that blends wildlife, history, and the quiet charm of small-town Ohio.
