There’s something special about waking up in a place where the coffee is already brewing, the morning light spills through old glass windows, and someone genuinely cares that you had a good night’s rest.
At The Inns at 8th and Main, we’ve learned that staying at a traditional bed and breakfast isn’t just about a room for the night — it’s about connection, story, and the quiet beauty of slowing down, with experiences that turn into lasting memories.
Each stay is a chance to feel the rhythm of small-town Ohio life — and to be part of a home that’s been welcoming travelers for generations.
Every Room Holds a Piece of History

Nestled side by side on one historic block, The Morris House and The Stone House each hold pieces of McConnelsville’s past. Together, they tell six unique stories through their guest suites — each filled with timeless details.
The Stone House, once a bustling 19th-century stagecoach stop and tavern, still carries the charm of travelers who came before — as shown here in The Christies Suite from the carved four-poster bed to the vintage trunk resting at its foot. Just next door, The Morris House began as a cherished family home connected to the generations behind The Morris Hardware, one of Ohio’s oldest family-run businesses still thriving downtown. Its history, like ours, is a story of craftsmanship, hard work, and heart — the very spirit that continues to welcome guests today.
Each suite blends antique charm with modern comfort — plush linens, antique functional furniture, and soft hues that make you feel instantly at home. Guests often say they can feel the stories in the walls.
Hospitality Begins at the Breakfast Table

Breakfast here isn’t rushed or routine — it’s a ritual of warmth. Each morning begins with locally roasted coffee, dessert first, and one of Dan’s signature hot breakfast creations — maybe his almost world-famous scrambled eggs (a guest favorite).
We believe breakfast is where conversations start and friendships form. Around our table, laughter mixes with the scent of coffee, and strangers become part of our Inn family.
Gather, Rest, and Rediscover Simple Joys

Our dining room and common spaces were designed for slowing down. The green-walled historic dining room glows with morning light, and the original fireplace has been the heart of countless conversations. From the creak of century-old floors to the clink of teacups on vintage plates, the Inn feels alive with character.
Whether you’re sipping tea or journaling by the window, these moments of stillness are what make a stay at a traditional Inn so different.
Step Outside — Historic McConnelsville Awaits

When guests ask what there is to do nearby, we often smile — because some of the best experiences begin the moment you step out of our front door.
Our Inn sits right in the heart of historic downtown McConnelsville, where 19th-century architecture, brick storefronts, and the charm of small-town Ohio come together. You can stroll to local boutiques, coffee shops, or antique stores — all within walking distance.
Just a few steps away stands the Twin City Opera House, a living landmark that still hosts concerts, plays, and even a few ghost tours. Its tower watches over Main Street much like it did over a century ago.
From our front steps, everything feels walkable — and wonderfully timeless.
A Stay with Heart — Meet Your Innkeepers

The front hallway at The Inns at 8th and Main has greeted generations of travelers — its hand-carved staircase polished smooth by time and footsteps. For us, it’s more than an entryway; it’s a symbol of the welcome we hope every guest feels the moment they arrive.
Amy and Dan Smith have turned their shared love of history, design, and heartfelt hospitality into a living story within these walls. Amy’s gift is storytelling and design — curating spaces that reflect the Inn’s timeless past. Dan brings the mornings to life as both the breakfast artist and the ever-capable Mr. Fix-It, keeping the house humming with warmth, coffee, and good cheer.
Together, we’ve built something personal and lasting — a space where past and present meet, and where every guest becomes part of our story.
More Than a Place to Stay — It’s a Way to Travel
In a world filled with fast-paced hotels and self-check-ins, a bed and breakfast offers something rare — human connection.
Here, you’re welcomed by name, offered local insight, and surrounded by the warmth of a home that’s been loved for generations. You’ll leave with memories, not just miles.
Whether you’re visiting for a quiet weekend, a girlfriend getaway, or an adventure at The Wilds, we’d love to welcome you to our corner of small-town Ohio — where hospitality still feels like home.
Because at The Inns at 8th and Main, hospitality isn’t a service — it’s a way of life.
